This is for the Cashew lover's!
Belize grows cashews, and lots of them.
The cashew is a fruit tree, in fact the nut grow out the bottom of the fruit.
Apparently, the fruit is something the locals really deem as "good"?
I have seen cashew fruit growing on the trees and seen them around at market but never endeavored to try them (besides the nut)
Well, I did pick up the fruit at market and it smells, well let's just say, pungent! My title says Ca-Shew as in a sneeze because it made my senses want to sneeze/gag at the same time.
The market vendor assured me that it's REALLY good and I keep smelling it thinking, yeah right?!
So I purchase 1 fruit for 12 cents US, have them wash and cut it so I can see how you eat the fruit.
They put it in a baggie and it rode home with Mat and I and the rest of our fresh food.
By the time we got home my car smells like this cashew fruit, not good.
I remove one piece from the baggie and again the smell assails my nose..............I take one little half-hearted bite and determine its for the compost pile!!!!!!!! No, none of like the cashew fruit, even if it's considered a delicacy to the locals.
The fresh berries on the other hand were delicious plain or in smoothies.
