The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him. Psalm 28:7

Guatemala Part 4

We visited Maria Alejandra sda church while in Nueva Concepcion. The walls and foundation were done by a group from Maranatha missions. The local church did the floor, roof, and finished the inside.

Currently, they needs fans, sabbath school rooms finished and are about to begin construction of a new sda school.

Guatemala Part 3

We had such a good time meeting Sayda's family! They took good care of us and fed us really good vegetarian food. Really nice, christian people that have invited us back and we will surely go again sometime.

Betty is Sayda's mom and she is cooking tamales over the outdoor firehearth.

Isabel is shelling out fresh black beans. They pick them before they dry.......really good.

Guatemala Trip Part 2

My family took a double-decker bus from Melchor, Guatemala, which is a 15 minute drive from our home. We left at 8pm and arrived in Guatemala City early the next morning around 6am and had to walk a block to the city trans metro. We rode the metro for about 30 minutes to another bus station and hopped another bus for a 3 hour ride out to our friends place. I had plenty of dramamine with me and believe me, I used it!

We visited Santiago, Lake Atitlan and it was absolutely beautiful. A big lake nestled in amongst volcanoes at a higher elevation and cooler weather. Large Maya populations live around this lake and there are twelve little towns spread out all around the lake. It was a beautiful drive up as we passed coffee plantations that spread as far as you could see. Totally different vegetation and I loved it.

Guatemala Family Trip Part 1

Our family was fortunate enough to be able to visit Guatemala for a week. We just returned a few days ago. This trip was something we had planned and looked forward to for many months. Our good friends and neighbors have family there. So we met up with our friends and got to spend about 4 days with them as part of our trip.

Nueva Concepcion is where we spent 4 nights of our stay and we were able to base from there for a few of our outings. It is closer to the equator and it was HOT there! We are used to Belize and the weather feels good but over there was cooking!

Our friends treated us to some very good homemade food, much of which we had never before. It was very good! (Lots of hard work) as I was able to help prepare some of it. Delicious and I now have some new recipes to try on my own.

Part 1 of our trip will include pictures from Xocomil Water Park in Irtra, Guatemala.

Summer Time!!!

Summer is flying by!!

The kids have really enjoyed the nice break from school. I am continuing to work and so is Chris.

We are moving ever closer to having the new ministry established. Things just take a bit of time and money.

Kids go back to school the beginning of September so I'm sure that August will fly by.
